Nicolas Maduro wins Venezuela's presidential election

Ruling party candidate Nicolas Maduro has narrowly won Venezuela's presidential election with 50.Eight percent of votes in comparison to unified opposition candidate and Miranda state Governor Henrique Capriles who had been polled 49.1 % from the ballots. Due to narrow margin of votes Capriles has refused to concede defeat and demanded full recounting alleging there were attempts to let people vote after polling stations closed and pressuring civil servants to prefer Maduro.

The elections were held following a death of Hugo Chavez , Venezuela's charismatic president for 14 years, in March 2013. Maduro, former foreign minister and v . p . and named his political heir by Chavez, was widely likely to win the right to complete the brand new six-year term Chavez won in October 2012, promising to carry on his oil-funded policies that cut poverty from 50 to 29 percent with popular health, education and food programs.
